There are many things I love, and one of those things is history. Poking my nose in places where it may or may not belong to discover a previously unknown mystery brings a thrill to my spine. It wasn't always that way. When my great aunts and uncles would gather 'round and reminisce at family reunions, I longed to be anywhere but there. But somewhere along the line my interests changed. Perhaps it was when I saw a print of the Declaration of Independence a few years back. I remembered one of those stories on how we were related to Dr. Benjamin Rush, the Signer, and seeing his name on that print made me wonder if we were indeed related, or if it was family lore. Perhaps it was when I was watching some period movie about William the Conquerer and how yet another story linking us to him welled up in my memories. Whatever it was, the curious monkey in me couldn't resist typing some names I knew into an internet search engine to see what I could see. What started as a wee seed of interest has flourished into a tree of wonder - branches stretching across space and time creating a shade underneath where I sit in delight and relish in the stories I have yet to discover.
As with all family trees, my branches are from many families. To compile them all on one website is just too vast. So, I decided to create 'micro-trees', where each family branch gets a site devoted to them. Westover is my married name, and while they are not directly my blood, they are my husband's and my children's, and deserve just as much attention as my own.
I have set this site up by century. It's not precise, but it seems to be the best layout for the time being. I have not included personal information about anyone who is currently living for privacy reasons (for example, you won't find the names of my husband, children, father-in-law, etc.) Everything I have included in these pages are from my personal ongoing research. As I come across new or more accurate information, I will edit and update. I have noted sources when I have something to note. When I was first doing my research, I had no idea I'd be still digging years later, so much of my early research is poorly cited. As I update information I will provide better and more accurate sources. Please note that my family is just like most others and records were noted in things such as the family bible or other personal documents that would not be in the public domain. So if there's no source it doesn't necessarily mean it's not accurate, it just means that there is no real source to refer you back to other than my first-hand knowledge. Where as I strive to make this site the most accurate lineage site to my branch of the Westover family, I encourage everyone to do their own cross-referencing and research. If you find something that I don't have noted here, or discover an error in my notations, please feel free to drop me a line at angelaknits (at) facebook (dot) com.
Enjoy your time here, and peace be with you! ~Angela Westover~
