...but it didn't start here.  Today I found an email in my box saying that the website I had set up with the Westover family genealogy is changing format.  And as it took me nearly 3 months to set that one up, learning basic html along the way, I really didn't want to learn a new format.  Enter Weebly.  It does EXACTLY what I wanted before, without the headache.  So, over the next few days I'll be transferring the information I had over at the other site and making this one all nice and pretty.

As I find new information, I'll note here in the blog what I found and where you can find it in the timeline.  Just subscribe to the RSS and voila!  Instant notification of something new!

Angela...What a work of love you have created here. I have gleaned many insights to my family past from your travail. I am descended from Moses Westover's brother John David down through William Westover(1769-1836) to, Rufus Westover (1816-?) of William's second marriage (m. Catherine Hostetter) to Jane Matilda Westover (1850-1930) who married William Hammond (1844-1908) to their eldest son George Hammond (1872-1948) who married Maria Corbett (1876-1954) to their eldest daughter Velda Hammond (1898-1985) who married Isaac Ireland (1881- 1984) to their eldest son Elgin G. Ireland (1921-2000) who married Barbara N. Stockton (1923-1981) to me Robert M Ireland eldest son born 1947. All this, happening in Dufferin County, Ontario, Canada. I have an fairly extensive tree with much photographic documentation. If I can be of assistance, let me know.
Sincerely
Rob Irelan

Hi, thank you for this great website. I am a direct descendant of Olive Westover, daughter of Amos Westover and Ruth Loomis. Amos was also a Loyalist (well documented) who received land in Sutton Township, and his children Olive (born June 1, 1800 [family bible], Amos Loomis and Alexander were all born in Quebec. The family later moved to Champaign Co. Ohio, but not until about 1814.

My mother was Jean Westover (1928-2012), daughter of Ernest Wymon Westover (1896-1947 b. E Fairfield, VT), son of George Lester Westover (1853-1935 b. Alburg, VT), son of George Nelson Westover (1829-1903 b. St. Thomas, Quebec, d. Clarenceville, Missisquoi, Quebec. Family tradition in Clarenceville says he is the son of Peter Westover, son of Silas Westover (1772-1825). I have been researching this branch for only a few years, but have found no evidence that Peter was George Nelson Westover’s father (no birth or baptismal records for George Nelson), nor evidence of Peter’s parentage. I would love to hear from anyone who might have any documentation regarding George Nelson Westover’s parentage. Thank you in advance for any clues you can share.

George Nelson Westover is my distant Grandfather. I am also searching the same Peter. I did find Peters name on South Beech Ridge Cemetery record as his father. That was in Quebec. That's all I have.

Thanks, Lisa. It’s more than I’ve found. Searching vital records and local town histories has turned up nothing. If the cemetery record states his father’s name was Peter I will return to that search. Do you have a copy or photo of the cemetery record? I would love to see it.

My mother was Jane Westover and I have a couple of books compiled about the Westover line that moved to Missouri in the early 1800s.
